Zambia Mission

May 15 begins a two month mission in Zambia for Jeff.  The mission will include distributing over 2500 new training manuals, conducting a District Leaders conference and starting 5 new HUBs in the Mansa, Kafue and Kabwe areas. Jeff also hopes to travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo to meet and work with District Leaders there. Lou Ann will be joining him the last two weeks of the trip with a team from the USA.

Prayer requests:
  1. The training manuals must be transported from South Africa through Zimbabwe and into Zambia. It is a very large distribution requiring a large vehicle and trailer or shipping commercially. Either way is expensive and logistically difficult.
  2. Traveling in the country is expensive – cost of fuel and wear on the vehicle – condition of the roads.
  3. Health: malaria and “fly” born sicknesses are always concerns.
  4. Safety for the 25 pastors as they travel to the conference to be held in Murundu. The conference will cost $3000 and includes food, lodging and travel expenses.
  5. Total estimated cost of the trip is $10,000.
  6. That in all things known and unknown, seen and unforeseen that Jesus Christ will be glorified and the Pastors edified in Zambia.

Bloody Friday – Remembering the Man of Sorrows

Isaiah 53:1-4 God became the “Man of Sorrow” from the moment of His conception to His last breath at His bloody crucifixion. He consciously “bore our griefs and carried our sorrows” all the days of His earthly journey.
God became a man!

God “contracted Himself to a span, and became a Man.” (Charles Wesley)

“Man of Sorrows, What a Name!
For the Son of God Who came!
Ruined Sinners to reclaim!
Hallelujah!
What a Savior!”

Remembering Christ Crucified and Risen

“The LORD’s Servant WILL act wisely and prudently.”  Isaiah 52:13

The Life of Jesus Christ demonstrated His wisdom and careful steps that led Him to a place called “The Skull” and where He died for us. Every step He took on this earth, from His miraculous birth to His death on the Cross of Calvary for mankind’s sin were for the purpose of obeying the Father’s will. He fulfilled His mission. He did not flinch at the call. “For the JOY that lay before Him, He endured the cross and despised the shame…”  Hebrews 12:2.

Are you living wisely and purposely for the One Who saved you and gave you eternal life? If you are you can also expect to be exalted with your Risen Savior who has been highly exalted.

His Prudent behavior led to His Prominent Position. “He will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.”

The result of His obedience and commitment are seen in His resurrection from the dead. “Death” had no claim on Him. The wages of sin is death, but HE had no sin, so there was no “wage” to pay!

Jesus Christ did not sin and had no sin, but took our sin on Himself, so that WE who believe on Him would be made righteous in Christ before God. 2 Corinthians 5:21

JESUS DIED FOR YOUR SINS.

God’s wrath was perfectly satisfied by His Perfect Son’s sacrifice for you and God raised Him from the dead and lifted Him up in His Ascension to be with the Father and prepare a place for His disciples. He is HIGHLY exalted, being seated on the right hand side of God the Father with a NAME that is above all names and “EVERY knee will bow” before the God-Man Jesus Christ. Philippians 2:5-11

Let’s not forget Christ Crucified and Risen this week. He died for you and will raise you up on the last Day to be glorified together with HIM.

So my friend, be wise and act prudently by the grace of God.

12 pastors in 2009 become 75 in 2012!

KAWAMBWA is the capital of the Luapula (WAH-POO-LA) Province of Zambia. It is beautiful country. Bill, Matthew and I traveled through it last May and were dazzled by the beautiful, lush country with rolling hills and lots of waterways. We drove through canopies of tree lined dirt roads for miles and miles. When we arrived in the city we were met by two young pastors, Ebeneezer Chali and Thomas Makanta. I first met these young men at a conference on the Copperbelt in September 2009. There they received their first set of training manuals for their new hub of 12 pastors to train. The course of study was Values of Christ and The Gospel and Acts.

My friend Steve Warren and I traveled to Kawambwa later that month in 2009 where we met and encouraged Ebeneezer and Thomas. God provided them with a new bicycle each. They were very happy with that gift as it enabled them to travel to the distant churches much easier, to plant new churches and to train new pastors.

Today March 28, 2012 I received their latest report on the work in Kawambwa. The original 12 pastors are now 75 pastors in training. 27 of these men will begin their studies in May when the new material is delivered.

The heart of Hope Builders Ministries is “Equipping Disciples to Make Disciples Who Make Disciples.” It is the biblical principle of 2 Timothy 2:2. Our pastors in training are in a course to study a 3 year Bible Curriculum under the tutelage of trained pastor. To graduate each pastor in training must make 3 disciples, a “Peter, James and John.” They will work with their disciple pastors to establish three new churches winning people to Christ in the villages they have chosen.

Church saturation is the goal. Remote areas that have had no gospel witness now have a growing Christian community being led by a trained pastor. The community of believers are taught to “make disciples” and in turn reach even deeper into the rural community. Many times a whole village or chiefdom are won to Christ and then neighboring villages.

Faithful churches and individuals in the United States partner with the Lord and the HUB Pastors in Zambia to make this possible. $300 per month supports the work that faithful men like Ebeneezer and Thomas to grow 12 churches with trained pastors into 75 in less than three years! By 2014 all of these will have completed their training and hundreds more will have come into training.

Each church averages over 100 souls!

Share this story with your church, small group or Sunday School class and sponsor a Hub. YOU will be a part of planting scores of churches and winning thousands of souls to Christ. In eternity you will have the JOY of meeting people that are there because you cared and shared in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
